Cheers To Boy Kick Back

Honestly, I rarely throw birthday surprises because I suck at it. Usually, I just greet the celebrant on Facebook or through SMS, and at the most, give little presents. But last November, I didn't know what really moved me to make an effort for someone. Well, perhaps, reading between the lines would reveal what my statements tried to imply.

Riding a jeepney and lrt, buying a cake at SM San Lazaro and walking across streets in Tayuman notwithstanding the rain, were some of what I faced just to make up for the futile greeting on his birthday. In all fairness, it wasn't easy at all. I meant, I was from school, in white uniform, with a heavy bag on my back.

Having to consider all these that I went through that day, it made me realize one thing: there's nothing more rewarding than having to witness his reaction when I finally brought out my surprise. I meant, I have never done this before and it's kind of creeping in, making me realize that I should've done it way before. I felt how all the odds were exchanged with fulfillment. Having gone through all of it was way beyond its worth. You know, the feeling is irreplaceable when I do something to someone who'll never be able to repay me. Like to him, countless "thank you"s wouldn't be enough to equate to his gratitude that he felt that moment.

Iba kasi talaga. Beyond compare.
